Yesterday during the World Championship Finals the wind shifted from a western origin to east for first time out of seven days of competition. Jennette’s Pier wind turbines shifted 180 degress and the waves got big, dumpy, and random. In short, the sea was a bit angry, but there was victory to be had, world champions to be made.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our sponsors and hosts.
Above and beyond, Valley Surf Kayaks has supported this event. The feel we can speak for the entire surf kayak community in our expression of gratitude for Valley’s sponsorship. Without Valley, the magnitude of the event in most every way would have been compromised. This is a huge thanks to everyone at Valley.

Please take a moment to cruise over to Valley’s surf kayak site and check out all their new boats.
Outdoor Sports Marketing brought us most every item in our competitor welcome packets as well as support on the beach and at our closing ceremony. OSM represents the top brands in outdoor sports.

Kitty Hawk Kites, Kitty Hawk Surf Company and the OBX Visitor Bureau really came to bat for us when we had to make the move from Hatteras to Nags Head due to the Hurricane Irene damage.

Remaining sponsors are thanked below as division sponsors of each competition class. And we would like to extend a really huge thanks to OBX locals, Lynn and Lindsay Usher, for working so diligently to help make this event a success, and for introducing us to the Town of Nags Head, The OBX Visitors Bureau, Jennette’s Pier and many others.

Thanks to Spencer, Joey, Andrew, All The Judges, and sponsors for making this a great event. Waboba is proud to have been part of it. We are not a paddle product but the water is our playground!
Oh, and all the participants – WELL DONE!
So bummed I wasn’t there. Looks like it was a great comp. Such consistency or scores in almost all the heats. Interesting though that it looks like long boats continued to outscore short boats in all but Juniors at least on the last day… What does that say about high performance design? Or at least about having the right tool for varying conditions. Very similar situation in Portugal and I’m guessing previous Worlds and also often at SC…
Congradulations to all this years top paddlers, and to all who attended. I wish I could have made it.Here’s to all the competitors, and a great big THANK YOU to the vollenteers who make these things happen. Hoping to see y,all in Aussie!!!
Well done to all the organisers and competitors. Sounds like you’ve had a great time. See you all soon.
Congratulations to Joey, Spencer and all the East Coast crew for putting on an unbelievable event.
Not only did they have to deal with the regular nightmares of putting on such an event, they also had to deal with Mother Nature and all the curves she threw in. The outcome was obvious to everyone who was there. The event was SPECTACULAR! and superbly organized.
A big hand of applause to all the organizers, judges, Carlisle and Caroline with their sweet voices doing the announcing and all the competitors to make this event a memorable one.
