September 29th, Thursday
11am-2pm – Competitor, Boat, Equipment Checkin at Jennette’s Pier
- If you have not already visited the pier, Jennette’s Pier is located on the oceanfront at milepost 16.5 in Nags Head.
7223 South Virginia Dare Trail
- Competitors must arrive at checkin with all competition kayaks.
- Each kayak must have float bags and safety tails.
- Please refer to WSKA if you have questions regarding the specific rules. http://www.wska.org/?page_id=5
- Competitor packets and VIP passes will be administered at checkin time.
- Competitors will be required to sign liability waivers at this time.
- Closing ceremony banquet passes are being sold at this time for $10 (this includes competitors and non-competitors)
Opening Ceremonies:
5 pm – 5:45 – Competitor Parade
Teams from all the countries march to Jennette’s Pier.
Parade begins at East Huron Beach Access (where the recycling bins are located), 0.5 miles South of Jennette’s Pier. You may park a car there or walk down from the pier parking lot.
- Teams should bring National Flags and wear team uniforms if you have them.
6:00 pm – Opening remarks for the Valley Kayaks Presents: 2011 World Championships of Surf Kayaking
6:30 pm – 11:30 pm – Opening Banquet, Low Country Boil, with vegetarian options
Entertainment:
Interference, A Kayak Surf Film
Smartwool, Perfect Pair (get a free pair of socks for socializing!)

It will likely be limited to 2 categories as it has been in previous events. Depends on time. Entry will be posted soon, will keep posting info here about that. Definitely want you to perform, not sure what the music setup will be on the beach, but at the least would like you to perform at REAL. email info@worldchampionshipsofsurfkayaking.com so we can get you connected with Paul, who is handling entertainment. Not sure what you’ll need, are you spinning MP3s these days?
